Oregon State Gymnastics is set to kick off their 2025 season with a highly anticipated meet in Oceanside, California. The Beavers, ranked No. 19 in the preseason poll, will face off against formidable opponents California and UCLA in the American Gold Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Classic.

Carey is joined by a strong group of seniors, including Sydney Gonzales, Carley Beeman, Natalie Briones, Karlie Chavez, Kaitlin Garcia, Lauren Letzsch, and Sage Thompson.

Veteran Leadership
The eight seniors on the roster combined to hit 155 routines last year, with an impressive hit rate of 94.5%. Four of these gymnasts were perfect throughout the season, showcasing their consistency and reliability.

New Additions
The Beavers have also welcomed four new student-athletes who bring fresh talent and potential to the team:
- Guilianna Fiorillo: A standout from San Jose, Calif., Fiorillo placed second on vault at the 2024 Development Program National Championships.
- Sophia Kaloudis: Originally from Huntington, N.Y., Kaloudis is a three-time state champion and two-time region champion.
- Reina Marchal: A Las Vegas native, Marchal brings a strong background in gymnastics, being the daughter of an Olympian.
- Paulina Vargas: A member of the Mexican Senior National Team, Vargas brings international experience and a history of success in major competitions.
Jade Carey’s Olympic Glory
July 30, 2024, marked a significant day for Jade Carey, as she competed in the Team Final at the Olympics with Team USA, securing another gold medal.
Carey also won a bronze medal in the Vault Final, bringing her career Olympic medal tally to three.
Her return to Oregon State for a final season adds immense value to the team, as she leads the Beavers with a record of 117 event titles and 12 perfect 10.000 scores.
Season Opener in California
This season’s opener in Oceanside, Calif., is a unique start for the Beavers, marking their first season-opening meet in the Golden State since 2005.
Historically, the team has traveled to various locations for their season openers, including Cancun, Mexico, and Kailua, Hawaii.
The choice of California aligns with the team’s strong recruiting pipeline from the state, with six gymnasts hailing from California.
Key Returners on Bars
The Beavers’ bars lineup was among the nation’s best in 2024, finishing the regular season ranked seventh.
Every gymnast who completed a bars routine last year is returning for the 2025 season. The lineup includes:
- Sophia Esposito
- Natalie Briones
- Taylor DeVries
- Jennifer McMillan
- Sage Thompson
- Jade Carey
These gymnasts earned numerous high scores, with 48 routines scoring 9.850 or higher and 11 routines scoring 9.950 or better.
Comebacks from Injury
Two key members of the beam lineup, Lauren Letzsch and Sydney Gonzales, are making their return after long-term injuries.
Letzsch last competed in 2023, while Gonzales went down mid-way through last season. Both gymnasts made their return during the Orange & Black meet on Dec. 13, bringing additional depth and experience to the team.
Looking Ahead
Following the season opener, Oregon State will return home to face BYU at Gill Coliseum on Saturday, Jan. 11.
