The No. 1 Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team is set to take the floor in one of the most exhilarating matchups of the 2025 season.

This Saturday, the Sooners will compete in the second annual Sprout’s Farmer’s Market Collegiate Quad, hosted by ESPN Events, and broadcast live on ABC.

This high-stakes meet will feature top-tier teams including No. 2 LSU, No. 4 Utah, and No. 6 California, making it a must-watch event for gymnastics enthusiasts.

Taking place inside the Paycom Center in downtown Oklahoma City, the event promises to be a showcase of elite gymnastics talent.

Sooners’ Stellar Start to the Season

Oklahoma’s women’s gymnastics team has already demonstrated their prowess early in the season.

They kicked off their campaign with a commanding victory at the American Gold Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Classic in Nashville, where they posted a score of 197.550.

This impressive performance saw them triumph over Auburn, BYU, and Nebraska, moving them to a 3-0 record.

  • Lily Pederson: Freshman standout, secured second place in the all-around with a 39.550.

Recognition and Honors

Sophomore Keira Wells received the program’s first SEC honor by being named the SEC Specialist of the Week.

Her performance was highlighted by a career-high 9.95 on her Yurchenko 1.5 vault, which tied for the highest score in the nation on that event.

Wells’ excellence helped the Sooners achieve a team score of 49.450 on vault, the highest in the country.

All-Around Excellence

In their season opener, five Sooners competed in the all-around, showcasing the depth and talent of the team.

Torrez led the way with a 39.625, while Pederson’s debut score of 39.550 was the second-highest for a freshman in OU history.

This strong all-around performance has set the stage for the Sooners’ continued success.

Upcoming Showdown at the Sprout’s Collegiate Quad

The upcoming meet at the Paycom Center will see the Sooners face off against some of the best teams in collegiate gymnastics:

LSU Tigers

Ranked No. 2, LSU comes into the meet with momentum after posting a 197.300 in a dual-meet victory over Iowa State.

Aleah Finnegan led the Tigers with a 39.725 in the all-around, earning SEC Gymnast of the Week honors. Freshman Kailin Chio also impressed with a 39.575 in the all-around, earning SEC Freshman of the Week accolades.

Utah Red Rocks

Utah, ranked No. 4, posted a 196.775 in their opening meet against Utah State.

The Red Rocks are currently the No. 1 ranked beam team with a score of 49.475 on the apparatus. Makenna Smith led Utah with a 39.500 in the all-around.

California Golden Bears

California, ranked No. 6, enters the meet after a strong performance in their season opener, where they scored 196.275.

The Golden Bears secured victories over UCLA and Oregon State, with Mya Lauzon leading the team with a 39.525 in the all-around.

Looking Ahead

Following the Sprout’s Collegiate Quad, the Sooners will return to the Lloyd Noble Center for their SEC opener against Missouri on Friday, Jan. 17. This meet will be broadcast live on SEC Network at 7:15 p.m. CT.
