Oklahoma QB Jackson Arnold Enters College Football Transfer Portal

The college football transfer season is in full swing, and the 2024 transfer portal is buzzing with activity. Standout players are on the move, seeking new opportunities to showcase their talents and make an impact on the field.

The portal, which opened on December 9 and closes on December 28, provides a window for players to explore their options. Additionally, players from teams competing in the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff and later bowl games will have an extra five-day transfer window in January.

In this blog post, we will delve into the notable players who are making headlines in the transfer portal.

Quarterbacks on the Move

Wisconsin QB Tyler Van Dyke

Tyler Van Dyke is entering the transfer portal once again. After transferring from Miami (Fla.) to Wisconsin ahead of the 2024 season, Van Dyke’s time with the Badgers was cut short due to an ACL injury in Week 3.

With one more season of eligibility remaining, Van Dyke is looking for a fresh start to make his mark.

Ohio State QB Devin Brown

Devin Brown announced his intention to enter the transfer portal, stating that he will remain with the Buckeyes through the College Football Playoff.

Brown, who lost the QB competition to Kyle McCord in 2023, found himself further down the depth chart with the arrival of Kansas State transfer Will Howard. Ohio State’s crowded quarterback room for 2025 includes top recruit Julian Sayin.

Western Kentucky QB TJ Finley

TJ Finley is entering the transfer portal for the fifth time. Previously playing for LSU, Auburn, and Texas State, Finley was named the starter for Western Kentucky earlier this season.

However, a leg injury in early September sidelined him, and he never reclaimed the starting role. In three games, he threw for 490 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

Oklahoma QB Jackson Arnold

Jackson Arnold, a former five-star recruit, is entering the transfer portal. Arnold was Oklahoma’s primary QB this season but faced challenges, including being benched after four weeks.

He later regained the starting job, and the Sooners went 5-5 in games he started. Arnold accumulated 1,421 passing yards, 12 passing touchdowns, three interceptions, and a 124.8 passer rating. He also rushed for 444 yards and three touchdowns.

Iowa QB Cade McNamara

Cade McNamara is on the move again, entering the transfer portal for the second time. After transferring from Michigan to Iowa following the 2022 season, McNamara struggled with injuries and inconsistent performance in 2024.

He threw for 1,017 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions in eight games before missing the final four games of the season.

Texas A&M QB Conner Weigman

Conner Weigman, a highly touted recruit, is entering the transfer portal. Weigman began the season as Texas A&M’s starter but faced injuries and inconsistent play.

He hopes to land with a College Football Playoff contender. In six games in 2024, Weigman threw for 819 yards, three touchdowns, and five interceptions.

Stanford QB Ashton Daniels

Ashton Daniels, Stanford’s top quarterback, is looking for a new school. Daniels started nine games this season, throwing for 1,700 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

He also led the team in rushing with 669 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Daniels has one year of eligibility left.

Running Backs and Wide Receivers

Michigan RB Cole Cabana

Cole Cabana, a sophomore running back from Dexter, Michigan, is entering the transfer portal. Cabana has struggled with injuries and limited playing time in his two seasons with Michigan.

He finished his career with the Wolverines with just two carries for six yards, both in 2023.

Michigan WR Tyler Morris

Tyler Morris, Michigan’s leading wide receiver in 2024, announced his intention to transfer. Morris led all Michigan receivers with 23 catches for 248 yards and two touchdowns.

Despite his modest numbers, he was a key player for the Wolverines, who struggled to find a consistent quarterback after J.J. McCarthy.

Texas Tech WR Micah Hudson

Micah Hudson, a highly ranked recruit in the 2024 class, is entering the transfer portal. Hudson had an underwhelming freshman season at Texas Tech and is looking for a new opportunity to showcase his talents.

He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

FIU WR Eric Rivers

Eric Rivers, one of the top wide receivers in the country in 2024, is entering the transfer portal. Rivers finished fourth in receiving yards (1,172) and receiving touchdowns (12) this season.

He has two seasons of eligibility left and is expected to be a sought-after transfer.

North Carolina State WR Kevin Concepcion

Kevin Concepcion, the talented NC State wide receiver, announced his intention to transfer. Concepcion won ACC Rookie of the Year and was named a freshman All-American in 2023.

His departure is a significant loss for the Wolfpack.

Other Notable Transfers

USC QB Miller Moss

Miller Moss, who spent two years as Caleb Williams’ backup at USC, is entering the transfer portal. Moss opened the 2024 season as USC’s starter, completing 64.4% of his passes for 2,555 yards, 18 touchdowns, and nine interceptions before losing the starting job in November.

Moss is seeking new opportunities to grow as a player and a person.

Liberty QB Kaidon Salter

Kaidon Salter, Liberty’s starting quarterback and the 2023 Conference USA MVP, announced his plans to transfer. Salter has totaled 7,900 yards and 77 touchdowns over his college career and has one season of eligibility left.

He led Liberty to the Fiesta Bowl last season and is expected to attract significant interest in the portal.

FIU QB Keyone Jenkins

Keyone Jenkins, FIU’s standout quarterback, is entering the transfer portal with two seasons of eligibility remaining. Jenkins has been a key player for FIU, and his departure will leave a significant void in the team’s offense.

Georgia CB Julian Humphrey

Julian Humphrey, a third-year sophomore cornerback from Georgia, announced his intention to transfer. Humphrey was one of the Bulldogs’ starters for the first 10 games of the season before being benched.

His decision to enter the portal comes at an unusual time, as Georgia is set to play in the upcoming SEC Championship Game.

Virginia QB Anthony Colandrea

Anthony Colandrea, Virginia’s starting quarterback for the first 11 games of the season, is entering the transfer portal. Colandrea was benched in the regular-season finale with bowl eligibility on the line.

He is seeking a new opportunity to continue his college football career.

Boston College QB Thomas Castellanos

Thomas Castellanos started 12 games for Boston College in the 2023 season. He announced his intention to transfer after losing his starting job to Grayson James with three games left in the season. Castellanos is looking for a fresh start to revitalize his career.
